NEWS
Jan. 20, 2012 - Happy New Year! Here's a press release pertaining to the next couple of months worth of news. Exciting stuff!
In-demand and multi-faceted jazz trombonist and composer, Ryan Keberle, will unveil his newest project, Ryan Keberle and Catharsis, in a series of performances around the tri-state area this February. Ryan Keberle and Catharsis, a “piano-less” quartet highlighting Keberle’s tuneful compositions and emotive arrangements in a bluesy, groove based, latin-jazz influenced atmosphere, features three of the jazz world’s most notable up-and-coming voices: Mike Rodriguez on trumpet, Jorge Roeder on bass, and Eric Doob on drums.
Fresh off one of his busiest years to date, 2011 saw Ryan tour the world with Indie-Rock legend Sufjan Stevens, play some of the world’s great concert halls with Maria Schneider, perform for the next Woody Allen film’s soundtrack, and once again perform on NBC with the Saturday Night Live House band; a year indicative of Keberle’s musically diverse career. Mr. Keberle looks to bring together these musically disparate worlds in the formation of Ryan Keberle and Catharsis combining the infectious songwriting of Sufjan Stevens, the emotional power and beauty of Maria Schneider, the rhythm and blues of Lenny Picket and the SNL band, and even the sounds of New York’s Latin jazz scene, in which Mr. Keberle also actively participates in. The band members of Catharsis bring an impressive wealth of experience playing an integral role in many of the top jazz and Latin jazz ensembles including the bands of Charlie Haden, Gary Burton, Julian Lage, Christian Scott, Paquito D’Rivera, and Gonzalo Rubulcaba.
The band will record their debut CD in March, Mr. Keberle’s third as a leader.
February Performance Schedule:
Saturday, Feb. 4th, 7pm, Live at the Falcon, Marlborough, NY
Wednesday, Feb. 15th, 2pm, NYU masterclass
Tuesday, Feb. 21st, 7pm, Barbes, Brooklyn, NY
Sunday, Feb. 26th, 5pm, Jazz Vespers at St. Peters
June 8, 2011 - Well, obviously the past 7 months have been a whirlwind of activity (as indicated by the unfortunate lack of communication on my part!!). In that time I've been to 4 different continents, played some of the world's greatest venues including the Sydney Opera House and Royal Festival Hall (both with Sufjan Stevens) and have formed a new quartet (band name to come). Look out for performances around New York City this summer and fall, and a possible European tour in 2012!
Nov. 22, 2010 - After almost 5 weeks on the road with one of my favorite musicians on the planet, Sufjan Stevens, I'm happy to have some great NYC gigs upcoming. You can hear me with the Maria Schneider Orch. at the Jazz Standard every night except Thursday from Nov. 23-28, and also with the Pedro Giraudo Sextet at the Zinc Bar on Nov. 30th. Be on the lookout for a new group I'm putting together. We'll be performing at the Lyceum on Dec. 26th (a post Xmas celebration) and also at St. Peters on Feb. 20th.
May 28, 2010 - Exciting new date on the calendar: Aug. 27, 7pm, Ryan Keberle Double Quartet, Live at Rubin Art Museum, As part of the
Harlem in the Himalayas Series, presented by the Jazz Museum of Harlem.

Lots of fun gigs in the works for this Spring - hope to see you there!
Nov. 13, 2009 - The next Double Quartet CD is officially done. Expect the release sometime in late January or early February. The title will be "Heavy Dreaming". I couldn't be happier with the results.
My Quintet, this time featuring Adam Kolker, Nir Felder, Yasushi Nakamura and Eric Doob had a fun gig last Sunday at the Brooklyn Lyceum. Thanks to everyone who came out!
Next week look for me with the Maria Schneider Orch. at the Jazz Standard. This is always a fun week with one of the great jazz orchestras of the world. Hope to see you there!
Sep. 26, 2009 - Just finished tracking for the next Double Quartet CD. I am REALLY happy with the results. Mixing and mastering happening soon. I hope to have the CD out by the end of the year. It's going to ROCK!!
In other news, I'm excited to be a part of the SNL band again this season for a couple of Thursday Weekend Update Specials (Sep. 24th and Oct. 1st). Also, I'll be at the Jazz Standard again over Thanksgiving week with Maria Schneider's Orch. Hope to see you there.
June 2, 2009 - Back from a hugely successful European debut tour with Darcy James Argue's Secret Society. Check out the debut CD - it's a masterpiece. You can still catch me on SNL reruns from this past season (hosts were John Hamm, Dwayne Johnson, and Justin Timberlake - gotta love the new music video, "Mother Lover"!!!). Later this month I'll be playing the Canadian jazz festivals with Maria Schneider's Orchestra. I hope to see some of my Canadian friends and fans! Also, my Double Quartet will be recording our 2nd album this summer. Stay tuned!
Feb. 12, 2009 - WOW. It's already February... and 2009! Man, I've got to update these things more regularly! Obviously, I've been quite busy which is a good thing! Exciting things to look out for are: 1, My Double Quartet back in action at Cachaca with a bunch of new music (and hopefully another Double Quartet recording session sometime soon!), 2, A bunch of great Maria Schneider gigs around the Midwest and Northeast, and 3, I'll be performing on SNL with the house band again on March 7th and May 9th.
Oct. 28, 2008 - It's been awhile since my last update... I've been incredibly busy but have managed to squeeze in a great Ryan Keberle Quintet gig at Cachaca last month (featuring Donny McCaslin and Lage Lund!!!) and also a stint on Saturday Night Live with the house band. Upcoming gigs with my own groups include the premier of a new Organ group at the Brooklyn Lyceum on Dec. 21st, and my Double Quartet at St. Peter's Jazz Vespers on Jan. 18th.
